NIT Agartala Admission 2024

NIT Agartala is one of the newly formed National Institutes of Technology set up in the year 2006, located at Tripura. It provides several undergraduate and postgraduate programs in multiple disciplines of Engineering, Science & Humanities streams. Eligibility of the students differs from each department – for B.Tech courses the candidate should have passed Class 12th or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as three main subjects. JEE Main, Tripura J EE and JEE Advanced are the examination accepted for admission. Same as for admission criteria in M.Tech, the admission criteria also includes scoring good percentile in GATE above the cut off mark, besides having a bachelor’s degree in the relevant branch. 

Major courses offered by NIT Agartala are available through its departments such as – Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Design, Economics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics departments that offer – B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.Sc, and PhD. Some of the national level entrance examination through which one can get admissions into these various UG and PG programs include JEE Main, GATE, CMAT/CAT, NET. Admission to the colleges begins in January each year through CCMT/CSAB counselling based on ranks obtained in JEE. For admission to the batch of 2024, JEE Main Examination is conducted in the first week of January and April 2024, GATE examination is in February 2024 and CAT CMAT Examination in November/December 2023. The admission list is usually released by or before June 2024 on the official website of the institute.

NIT Agartala Application Process 2024

NIT Agartala offers BTech admissions to the courses through the JEE Main examination and candidates who are interested to join the institution can fill the application form. There are two ways students can access the Admission Form of NIT Agartala they include online and offline. 

Online Application Process:

The admission process of NITA Gartala is an online process where students need to visit the website of the university which is www.nitagartala.ac.in and register themselves. Applicants are required to complete an online application form and attach images of documents such as photographs, signatures, educational certificates, category certificates where applicable. Application fees can be submitted via net banking, debit cards, and credit cards.

Offline Application Process: 

The information brochure and application form can be however obtained from the institute administration on payment of the required amount. The application, a demand draft and photocopies of the relevant documents prescribed have to be forwarded to the institute address on or before the last date mentioned.

NIT Agartala B.Tech Admission 2024

- Admissions in the B.tech course shall be through JEE Main exam only. The candidates have to secure valid scores in the JEE Main entrance exam and then undergo the counselling session to get into the engineering colleges.

- The total number of seats put forward for B.Tech programs will be around 450 and will be offered in different fields. This may vary slightly year-on-year, thus the total amount may have change slightly from the previous financial year.

- Some B.Tech specializations that are offered at NIT Agartala include Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and so on.

- It will be done through JEE Main rank, options provided by the candidate during counselling session, availability of seats and proposed reservation norms.

- CSAB will be providing counselling through JoSAA counselling process for the students who wish to avail Counselling. More detailed information regarding time-line and procedure will be published around April-May, 2024 through JoSAA.

- In case of seat distribution, seat will be reserved as per the norms of the government for ST/SC/OBC/EWS/general categories.

- Fees structure will be as follows Home state fee structure will be Rs 1,25,000/- Per annum. It may also differ in cases when the candidate has been sponsored by an NRI.

NIT Agartala B.Tech Selection Criteria

- Admissions are carried out through JoSAA/CSAB counselling based on their rank/score in JEE Main. The first step to getting admission to engineering colleges is by taking the JEE Main examination.

- Seats available for a candidate are General seat, Home State Quota seat, Other State Quota seat, etc. The availability of these seats depends on the candidate’s eligibility for these quotas.

- For home state candidates from Tripura, eligibility demands such candidates to have a valid JEE Main Score Card and minimum of 60% marks in class XII or any equivalent examination. 

- In other state, it is done according to the rank of the student in JEE Main and the number of seats available under the other state quota. There is a change in cutoffs every year due to the fluctuations in number of students applying, the level of the exam etc.

- Besides the JEE Main criteria, candidates must also meet certain other criteria such as age, qualification, etc., which includes a maximum age limit of 25 years, the candidate should have passed 12th standard with maths, physics and chemistry as their subjects etc.

- Eventually, the seats are distributed through counselling sessions taking into consideration the candidate’s JEE Main rank and the preferences of the candidates. Candidates who make it through must undergo the admission process and complete it before the given time.

NIT Agartala B.Tech How To Apply?

1. Candidates should have passed in JEE Main exam in order to get admission. To get through the admission process, you must take the JEE Main paper and score as per the specified cutoff marks.

2. It is recommended to check the official website www.nitagartala.in and once the application is invited, apply online for the position. This is generally after the declaration of results of JEE Main tests, most probably in the months of May and June.

3. For more information about the admission procedure, date of application, eligibility criteria, number of seats available, reservation and other rules and regulation, please refer the information brochure which can be available at the university website. 

4. The basic eligibility criterion is that the candidate must have passed class XII or its equivalent examination in the relevant subject/s, with the minimum percentage of marks as laid down by the university.

5. Before applying, make sure that you are within the cutoff marks of NIT Agartala according to the category you fall in (General candidate/OBC/SC/ST). Usually the cutoffs are declared and the admission process begins with the opening of the admission portal.

6. It is recommended to have scanned copies of documents ready that can be uploaded while filling the form such as passport photo, signature, Class 10/12 marks sheet, JEE Main score card etc. 

7. Application fees may also be paid online at the time of form-filing. Tuition fees amount is typically Rs.1500 for General and OBC candidates and Rs. 750 for the SC & ST candidates.

NIT Agartala M.Sc Selection Criteria

- M.Sc programmes in NIT Agartala are offered based on the student’s performance in the entrance test known as CCMT (Centralized Counseling for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan/M.Des). The students have to clear GATE exam in order to be able to pursue their higher studies in this field.

- CCMT is the authority that gives the seats to the candidates depending upon their GATE score and preferences filled during counseling. Based on the above analysis, it can be concluded that the weightage factor given to GATE score is high in the assessment of allotment.

- Other factors into account are the candidate’s academic performance in the degree programme and the score attained in GATE examination. It may be understood that there may well be program-specific cutoffs and admission requirements.

- There is also provision of sponsored seats for candidates from industries/research organizations who also go through a different selection process depending on their academic background and working experience.

- Some may also be kept aside for candidates from the SC, ST, OBC categories, depending on the conditions set by the government.

NIT Agartala M.Sc How To Apply?

1. Always cross verify the specific requirements needed for a candidate to apply for an M.Sc program of choice in terms of academic qualifications, percentage scores, need for the entrance tests, etc. All these conditions will be provided in the institute website.

2. If you are eligible, you apply by submitting the on-line application form available on the institute’s website whenever the notifications/advertisements are put out. Keep checking for them.

3. It will require you to fill in your name, address, university/college, percentage/CGPA, program of your choice, and application fee. Should complete the submission of all details and remit the application fee where necessary.

4. Few of the programmes may necessitate you to write national level tests such as GATE/NET or institute level exams. These may have to be taken separately and generally require a candidate to apply for it and sit for it depending on the admission requirements.

5. If you fall within this category, you will be invited for counseling sessions during which document clearing, croping, admission confirmation will take place depending on your merit, reservation category etc.

6. Other documents required include certified copies of your Identity document, Passport size photograph, proof of residential address, Medical certificate, Immunisation record, Transfer certificate, School report or academic record, Payment of admission/semester fees confirms admission.

NIT Agartala Ph.D Admission 2024

- The admission to the Ph.D program at NIT Agartala is mostly done in the year and this enrollment happens once in a year. The admission notification, therefore, is usually released in the second half of the year, particularly during the month of August/September.

- Aspiring candidates for Ph.D at NIT Agartala must have a valid GATE/NET score to be able to apply for the position. However, there might be some departments where candidates having GATE/NET scores might not be given preference.

- The seats are allotted to the candidates on the basis of academic achievements, research proposal, experience etc for the written test and/or interview round. 

- The number of Direct Ph.D seats offered across departments is limited and generally fall in the range of 30 to 40 per year. The number of seats also varies as per the guidelines provided by the MHRD for reservation.

- The candidates who pass the test will be required to take courses in the first semester of their study. The compensation includes research fellowships for the PhD scholars who fulfill certain criteria.

- Till date, the exact notification for the Ph.D. in the year 2024 has not been issued. For the same, one will have to revisit the official website of NIT Agartala (www.nitagartala.ac.in) around August-September session 2024. This is in terms of eligibility and qualifications to apply and this is expected to remain largely the same.

NIT Agartala M.Tech Selection Criteria

- It is to be noted that the admission to the ME and M.Tech programmes in any of the disciplines is done through the ranks obtained in the GATE exam only. It is necessary to note that only candidates who possess a valid GATE score can apply for the program.

- It operates on the deserved basis, and candidates with higher GATE scores get preference. There also could also be some other criteria that one should meet before being considered for admission such as minimum score or percentile in GATE.

- These categories include OBC, SC & ST etc affiliated to Govt. of India; the percentage criteria can be reduced for such seats.

- In addition to the GATE score, students educational background and other criteria as mentioned in the admission notification are also taken into consideration in case of the NIT, Agartala. There may be certain academic/mark requirements in B.Tech or other qualifying degree to pursue the programme.

- The admission is granted based on the Score in GATE, and available M.Tech specializations and their preferences shown while counseling/interview process. These seats are assigned based on various factors like merit, reservations policies, choices filled and so on.

- Originally, sponsored candidates, who are full time employees of a company, may not need to have a valid GATE score in certain situations. The criteria of selection are quite distinct, especially, there are more emphases on their working experiences.
