GATE is one of the most popular exams for admission into postgraduate programs in engineering, technology, architecture and science in India. It is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board. The exam tests comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE score is valid for 3 years and is widely used by PSUs for recruiting candidates to senior technical positions.
The exam is held annually, generally during January or February. It is a computer based test of 3 hours duration comprising multiple choice questions and numerical answer type questions. There are a total of 25 papers to choose from belonging to different disciplines. A candidate can appear for maximum 2 papers in an exam session. The application process starts around September. Exam centers are located across India in almost all major cities as well as few cities abroad. Results are declared within a month after the exam. The GATE score is used for admissions as well as employment in PSUs and several other organizations for appropriate posts along with the qualifying degree. GATE qualified candidates also get assistantship for postgraduate programs.

GATE 2024 Answer Key
Release of Provisional Answer Key: The GATE conducting authorities release the provisional answer key on their official website a few days after the exam is conducted. It is made available for all subjects/papers of GATE.
Objection Window: Along with the provisional answer key, the organizing institute also provides a specific time window during which candidates can raise objections if they find any discrepancies or have doubts regarding the answers provided in the key.
Reviewing and Resolving Objections: After the objection window is closed, the authorities review all the objections raised by the candidates. If any objections are found to be valid, necessary corrections are made to the answer key.
Release of Final Answer Key: Based on the review and resolution of objections, the GATE conducting authorities release the final answer key, which contains the officially accepted and corrected answers to the questions.
Result Calculation: The final GATE scores are calculated based on the final answer key. For MCQs, candidates receive marks as per the marking scheme (usually +1 or +2 for correct answers and negative marking for incorrect answers). For NAT questions, marks are awarded without any negative marking.
Declaration of Results: After the final answer key is released, the GATE results are declared. The results are usually announced on the official website, and candidates can check their scores and rank in the examination.
