Horticulture Common Entrance Test

Horticulture is the science and art of cultivating plants, including fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, and ornamentals. It is a broad field that encompasses the production, marketing, and use of plants. Horticulture can be divided into two main branches:

  • Horticulture for food: This branch of horticulture focuses on the production of fruits, vegetables, and nuts. It includes the cultivation of crops in fields, greenhouses, and aquaponics systems.
  • Horticulture for ornamentals: This branch of horticulture focuses on the production of flowers, foliage plants, and trees for decorative purposes. It includes the cultivation of plants in gardens, greenhouses, and landscapes.

HORTICET 2024 Eligibility

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • The candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination with Biology as one of the subjects.
  • The candidate's age must be between 17 and 22 years as of December 31st, 2024.
  • The candidate must have completed a Diploma in Horticulture from a recognized institute.

The candidate must also submit the following documents along with the application form:

  • A copy of the 10+2 examination certificate
  • A copy of the Diploma in Horticulture certificate
  • A copy of the passport-sized photograph
  • A copy of the caste certificate (if applicable)

The application form for HORTICET 2024 will be available online on the official website of the Dr. YSR Horticultural University. The application fee is INR 500 for general candidates and INR 250 for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

Details asked in both Admit Cards (one for student and other for Office)

  • Examination Roll Number: This is a unique number that will be assigned to you by the Dr. YSR Horticultural University.
  • Name of the Candidate: This is your full name as it appears on your 10+2 examination certificate.
  • Father's/Mother's Name: This is the name of your father or mother, as it appears on your 10+2 examination certificate.
  • Date of Birth: This is your date of birth in the DD/MM/YYYY format.
  • Gender: This is your gender, either Male or Female.
  • Category: This is your caste or tribe, if applicable.
  • Exam Centre: This is the center where you will be appearing for the exam.
  • Date and Time of Examination: This is the date and time of your exam.
  • Signature of the Candidate: This is your signature.
  • Photograph of the Candidate: This is your photograph.

The University can reject application form on the following basis

  • The application form is incomplete or illegible.
  • The candidate does not meet the eligibility criteria.
  • The candidate has submitted false or misleading information in the application form.
  • The candidate has not paid the application fee.
  • The candidate has not submitted the required documents.
  • The candidate has not appeared for the entrance exam.
  • The candidate has failed the entrance exam.

The University will notify the candidate of the reason for the rejection of the application form. The candidate can appeal the rejection of the application form to the University.

Application Fee

The application fee for the HORTICET 2024 exam is INR 500 for general candidates and INR 250 for SC/ST/PWD candidates. The application fee can be paid online through a credit card, debit card, or net banking.

The application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. The application fee will be forfeited if the candidate does not meet the eligibility criteria or if the candidate does not appear for the entrance exam.

HORTICET 2024 Exam Pattern

HORTICET 2024 Admit Card/Hall Ticket

The HORTICET 2024 admit card/hall ticket will be released by the Dr. YSR Horticultural University in the last week of August 2023. The admit card will be available online on the official website of the University.

The admit card will contain the following details:

  • Exam Hall Ticket Number
  • Name of the Candidate
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Category
  • Exam Centre
  • Date and Time of Examination
  • Signature of the Candidate
  • Photograph of the Candidate

You must bring the admit card to the examination center. The admit card is a must-have document and you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall without it.

The merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam. The candidates who have qualified the exam will be called for counseling.

The HORTICET 2024 merit list will be released by the Dr. YSR Horticultural University in the first week of November 2024. The merit list will be available online on the official website of the University.

The merit list will contain the following details:

  • Roll Number
  • Marks Obtained
  • Rank

The merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam. The candidates who have qualified the exam will be called for counseling.

HORTICET 2024 Cut Off

The HORTICET 2022 cut off has not yet been released. The cut off is the minimum marks that a candidate must score in order to qualify for the exam. The cut off is determined by the Dr. YSR Horticultural University based on the number of seats available, the difficulty level of the exam, and the performance of the candidates.

The cut off for the HORTICET exam is usually different for each category of candidates. The general category has the highest cut off, followed by the OBC category, the SC category, and the ST category. The PWD category has a lower cut off than the other categories.

HORTICET 2024 Counselling

  • Phase I: This phase will be for the candidates who have qualified the exam and are in the merit list. The candidates will be called for counseling based on their rank.
  • Phase II: This phase will be for the candidates who have qualified the exam but are not in the merit list. The candidates will be called for counseling based on their availability of seats.

The counseling will be a online process. The candidates will have to register for the counseling online and upload their documents. The documents that need to be uploaded are:

  • Scorecard
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • PWD certificate (if applicable)
