The common exam for design (CEED) offered by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is a national level entrance exam targeted at admissions to the Master of Design (MDes) programs in different specializations like Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Animation, Interaction Design, Transport Design, and so on. The Indian Institute of Technology's (IITs) and the participating institutes offer these programs. The assessments evaluate the pictorial capacity including ability of visual perception, drawing, creativity, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills of the candidate.
Mostly, the drawing test gets a total score of 35-40% and, Material Measuring Test, Spatial Ability test, Abstract Reasoning Test, and Creativity test are given a total score of 60-65%. Results of CEED 2023 are set for declaration in the 3rd week of March, 2023. The date when CEED 2024 exam will be held yet to be told by the authorities but likely that the exam will be hold in the second half of January 2024. As a rule, registration begins from three to four months before the exam is due. When CEED 2024 results are announced, then they are published within the a month of the test date on the official website.
The CEED exam checks the design sensibilities that includes a perception ability for visual, drawing skill, creativity, imagination, observation, and communication skill as well. There are two modalities delivered correspondingly - part A and part B.
Part A is task oriented and to determine visualization competencies it uses a multiple-choice form. The assessment in Part B supplies objectiveness marks based on drawing, imagination, and communication skills and may contain subjective questions.
