The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is responsible for conducting the OPENNET examination, which is a substitute for students of their department for undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This online computer-based test makes it possible for the students to sit for examination from the designated exam center affiliated to their regional education board instead of the main regional center. The test is written in June and December without fail. Students can be one of the May or November this year as they like. This exam tests the students' understanding of the basics covered during the last semester's curriculum through multiple choices questions, short answer questions, long answer descriptive questions among other practicum and lab based questions for science subjects only.
Everything oftentimes reaches its completion after 45 days of the test. The period for the June 2023 session application is March 31, 2023 and the practical exam, June 1 -10, 2023. We put the report for the client by July 20, 2023. The appropriate application deadline for the December 2024 exam session is September 30, 2024. The unbiased exam will be carried out from December 1 to 15, 2024. We hope to make the results available by the end of January 31, 2025. Students need to get no less than 35% and 50 % in the practical part/labs and OPENNET theory exams respectively to pass the final examination.

1. Studying the syllabus carefully is a must to know all the main topics and also the concept which are tested in the final exam. While going through the textbooks, prepare notes and summaries.
2. Solve previous years’ question papers to figure out the utilization of time, calculations, type of questions possible during the exams as well as important topics. Discover what you do well and where you need to improve yourself.
3. Make a realistic study plan within the time limit and follow through with it. A final exam or essay should be well-prepared and not a last-minute affair. Revise concepts frequently.
4. Participate in sessions of counseling and watch programs on Gyan Darshan TV channel covering your study fields. These are in fact experienced IGNOU learners who give exam tips which they had used and helped them to pass their exams.
5. Practice forming study groups where you can talk about the concepts with your classmates, explain things to each other and complement each other. As a result, it works an advantage.
6. Make students have the practice tests within a month to the examination to check the preparedness level. Identify and analyze the weaker areas and develop a programme with the aim of making those better.
7. Get rid of the tests day stress by taking time for relaxation. Ensure you are in the examination center on time with the right materials in hand. Read instructions first to avoid any confusion or misconception.
8. The ability to manage time when the questions are descriptive and long or in essay form is a vital skill during the exams Frame an answer outline earlier in writing.
