JEE Main, short for Joint Entrance Examination Main, is one of the most competitive engineering entrance exams in India. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), it is the gateway to admission to various undergraduate engineering and architecture programs at National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs).
The exam is conducted twice a year - January and April - in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. It comprises three sections - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Based on the score, top 2.5 lakh candidates qualify for JEE Advanced. Additionally, it is used by other institutes for admissions. Eligibility requires passing Class 12 exams with minimum 75% marks (65% for SC/ST candidates).
The exam pattern for JEE Main 2024 is expected to be similar to previous years. However, please note that the specific details of the exam pattern for JEE Main 2024 will be officially announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and may be subject to change.

For each correct answer, 4 marks are awarded, while for each incorrect answer, 1 mark is deducted (negative marking). Unattempted questions are not marked.
The JEE Main rank is calculated based on the candidate's best score from either of the two sessions (if they appear in both). The rank is calculated based on the total marks obtained in the exam.
Candidates must have passed their 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
