The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) on behalf of the National Coordination Board to assess comprehension of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts. To be eligible for GATE 2024, the applicant must hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts. Candidates in the third or higher years of these programs can also apply. There is no age limit. Candidates who have completed or are pursuing post-graduate degrees can also apply.
Educational qualification:Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) or Master's degree in any relevant Science subject or equivalent qualification.
Year of study:Candidates who are currently studying in the 3rd year or higher years of the qualifying course are also eligible to appear for GATE 2024.
Nationality:Indian citizens, foreign nationals, NRIs, PIOs, and OCIs are eligible to apply.
The GATE 2024 exam will reserve seats for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
Documents Required for GATE Exam Registration 2024
- Photo ID Proof: Candidates must upload a soft copy of a valid photo ID proof like Aadhar card, PAN card, Voter ID, Driving License, Passport, etc. during the registration process.
- Academic Documents: Scanned copies of your 10th/12th mark sheets, graduation degree certificates (if completed) may need to be uploaded. Final year students have to provide a certificate from the Head of Department/Institute.
- Recent Photograph: You will need to upload a recent passport size color photograph for the registration. It should be as per the specifications given by the GATE 2024 authorities.
- Category/Caste Certificate: SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates have to upload their respective valid caste certificates in the prescribed format signed by a competent authority. Also required during the time of application for admission.
- PwD Certificate: Candidates with benchmark disabilities need to furnish GATE 2024 disability certificates as stipulated.
- Address Proof: Though not always mandatory to provide during registration, a proof of address may be needed in certain cases.
