The JEE Main 2024 counselling process will begin after the declaration of final ranks by NTA based on students' performance in JEE Main 2024 and Class 12 board exams. Counselling will be conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for admission to NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions. The counselling will consist of multiple rounds of seat allocation where students have to choose/modify their choices, pay seat acceptance fees, report at allotted institutes to confirm admission etc.
Key things to note in JEE Main 2024 counselling - students have to register on the JoSAA website once it opens, fill their choices of institutes/branches carefully in order of preference. Seats are allocated based on ranks, choices filled and availability. Students have to be strategic about which seat/upgrade option to accept in different rounds. Up/downgrades happen in later rounds. The final round is mandatory for seat confirmation. Seat allocation, reporting at institutes have to be done within stipulated deadlines. The detailed schedule, business rules will be announced by JoSAA before counselling starts.
