Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), is well-known in India as a leading private engineering colleges. Founded in 1956, at the city of Patiala in the state of Punjab, it now offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in almost all the categories of engineering, science, and management studies. TIET has 4 year BTech program offered in CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) which focuses on subjects like programming languages, data structures and algorithms, DBMS (database management system), OS (operating system), computer networks and machine learning. The next course comes into focus- the BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) - and it deals with electronic devices, circuits, analog communication systems, digital communication systems, digital networks, etc. Generally, the final exam for these programs is held either in December or May every year.
TIET has started accessing students for 2024 batch where candidates need to participate in the Common national level entrance exams like JEE Mains. Candidates, who qualified in the short list, would be invited to counseling with the final recommendation for admissions based on the scores they earned and preferences. The position is awarded strictly according to the criteria listed set by the authorities involving candidates whose aggregate would have since entrance exams and 12th board exams, category, etc. The course fee is 5-8 lakh rupees for the complete duration of the course.

Academics
- To be eligible for the course, students must have a minimum of 10+2 passed/equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory, while Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or Technical Vocational subject as an option.
- Effective criterion is min.50% (5% relaxation is for SC/ST category) for all candidates in class 10+2 or equivalent.

- It is compulsory that a student attains the minimum score required in JEE Main established exam.
- If I had been interested in getting admission to the civil, electronics, electrical, or computer programs under the lateral entry scheme (through TS ECET), I should have appeared for the TS ECET exam.
