Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is a collegiate public state university located in Belagavi, Karnataka, India. It was established in 1998 and is named after Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a notable Indian engineer. VTU is the affiliating university for many engineering, medical, dental, management, and architecture colleges spread across Karnataka. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs including engineering, technology, architecture, management, mathematics and computer applications. Two popular courses at VTU are BTech in Computer Science Engineering and BTech in Information Science Engineering. The 4-year BTech programs provide training in subjects like programming languages, data structures, database management systems, operating systems, and computer networks. The university examination dates for odd semesters are usually in November-December while even semesters exams are held in May-June every year. The admission process for BTech programs at VTU in 2024 is expected to begin around April 2024 through the Karnataka CET test conducted by the Government of Karnataka. Based on CET scores, counseling rounds will take place and seats will be allotted across VTU affiliated colleges.

Visvesvaraya Technological University Application Procedure
- VTU admits undergraduate engineering students after taking KCET, a state-level entrance exam of Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET). Students are under group where they have to make an appearance and clear KCET.
- The counselling in the state is conducted by the KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) and students will be allotted seats according to their ranks and preferences which are derived from their KCET scores. In a few stages, counseling is realized.
- Also, KCET scores are not the only thing that determine seat allocation. Other factors like domicile status, category (GM/SC/ST/OBC), Income or other criteria,are also included.
- Students have the opportunity to get enrolled in some colleges which are affiliated with VTU, depending on their performance in national/state-level common entrances like JEE Main, COMEDK, etc. These common entrances usually have their counselling procedure.
- Student getting seats in the allotted colleges have to submit the required documents and pay admission fees to the specific colleges.
- For PG programs like ME, MTech, MBA, MCA or other PG disciplines offered by colleges of VTU there are separate admission processes. The mode of exam principle that some refer to PGCET, others are having their own tests.
