- The admissions to the M. Tech programs are done through a state-level entrance examination, IKGPTU PTU-MET (“Punjab-Technical-University – Master of Engineering and Technology”).

- Candidates must possess B.E./B.Tech degree with marks secured in 60% or minimum of 55% marks (55% marks is for SC/ST candidates).

- The method of selection is also based on the score taken in PTU-MET entrance exam, segregated into different categories. 70% is the weightage given to the entrance exam while 30% for the qualifying degree exam is reserved for candidates.

- The PTU-MET exam is meant to testcandidates in their respective bachelors' disciplines of engineering. This section consists of the questions which are of multiple choices relating to the four sections: verbal ability, quantitative ability, reasoning and the various engineering subjects.
