Pharmacy is a branch of medicine that focuses on the management, distribution, and appropriate use of medications. In order to become a pharmacist in India, one is required to pursue a Bachelors degree course in Pharmacy (B. Pharm) of 4 years, after which he/ she has to do a course in Masters in Pharmacy (M. Pharm) of 2 years. Some of the closely related undergraduate courses are Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacy Practice. Requirements for admission into a B. Pharm program include: The candidate should have passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination with subjects in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/mathematics. For M.Pharm, the candidate should have passed B.Pharm with minimum 55% of total marks in B.Pharm from any University recognized by the University Grants Commission. The documents needed for admission are marks sheets of 10th and 12th showing subjects studied and marks scored, B. Pharm degree certificate, transfer certificate from the previous institution, migration certificate and if there was any break period, then a gap certificate.

Important Entrance Exams for Pharmacy Courses

1. NIPER JEE – This is the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Joint Entrance Exam being held for entry into the NIPERs located in different parts of India.
