- Candidates should have come through either a two-year postgraduate program in a relevant subject with at least 55% and above the marks or equivalent CGPA of the same. Candidates who obtain NET/GATE certificates mostly have higher chances of being selected.

- We have set the deadline for applications, which runs through, once a year, in newspapers and on our university website. If any of the candidates wishes to apply online, they must upload all the obligatory files.

- There is a test on that subject where the candidate has applied as they answer questions both in written and in oral. In the next stage, those, who receive the highest scores in the written test, are invited to have an interview.

- The interviewees have to present their expedition plan to a council composed of teachers. The interview content evaluates a candidate’s academic capacity, area of specialty, research ability and areas of interest. 

- Candidates are then finally selected from the list of applications based on their performance in the written exam, interview, academic record/research experience as evidenced by any publications and research papers.

- Reservations in categories viz, SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer and differently abled shall be applicable as per Karnataka state government directive.

- Being an entry level, students are required to go through the course work in the first year. Then the research work will begin full time and will be completed under the guidance of a faculty advisor in the form of a thesis leading to a PhD.

1. Please, visit the university's website or the notification about the opening of the PhD admissions to know when the admissions are open. They are normally advertised in major newspapers that can extend to the university website.

Cochin University of Science and Technology Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] Selection Criteria

1. Entrance Exam: The applicants have to demonstrate their best in CU CAT while the variety of skills and knowledge will be in the test. Candidates who cleared CAT exam are only considered and their ranking is checked as well.

2. Academic Record: If one wants to apply, he/she should have passed 10+ 2 or equivalent exam with good marks in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Computer science or biotechnology/biology. Also in 10+2 the academics part is given priority while merit lists are being prepared. 

3. Reservation: Unlike general seats, reserved seats in government ruled election are reserved for SC, ST, OBC and etc. candidates. As for the reserved seats, the rules of the election let the minimum eligibility criteria be relaxed.

4. Tuition Fee Waiver: An up to 5% admission is sought to be given on a tuition fee waiver basis for economically weaker segments. The criterion is based on both CAT score as well as annual earnings of a family.

- Valid score in CAT/MAT or/CMAT & Kerala State Entrance exams is required too. The number of scores from CAT/MAT (currently for 2 years) and CMAT score (valid only for the year of examination) are liable to change.

Eligibility:

- Passout in any Discipline at Graduation Level with positive view about mathematics and has 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) in Mathematics.

- Worthy KMAT five score or CAT in the yearning of CUSAT.

Documents Required: 

- Leaving certificate exam results for 10th and 12th grades.
