NIT Calicut, which is one of the leading public engineering and technology institution in the country, is a part of the National Institutes of Technology system. This institute has been in existence since 1961, but it only became a National Institute of Technology after 2002. At undergraduate and graduate level, NITC provide a wide range of courses in various engineering disciplines like computer science, electrical, electronics, mechanical, civil, architecture, sciences and management.

At present, NITC have an all-around student figure of over 6000 students who are pursuing Btech, Mtech, MBA, MCA and PhD programs. Campus of the organization is 120 hectares green area. It is luxuriously green. NITC provides best-in-class facilities including laboratories that employ advanced technologies, computer labs and classrooms which are well digitalized and a large library with more than 200000 volumes. The institution has an accomplished list of alumni who include the former chairman of ISRO, K Ramanakrishnan, and former CEO of TCS, S Ramadorai.

NIT Calicut Eligibility Criteria 2024

For BTech programs: Cleared 12th class general with 75% overall aggregate marks (65% for SC/ST students) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

For MTech programs: BTech/BE or any other degree in relevant stream with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST students). Some programs also have GATE score include as one of the requirements.

For MSc programs: BSc or equivalent degree in the relevant field with at least 50% percentage marks (relaxed to 45 for SC/ST students). These courses also have national level exams like CSIR UGC NET notably.

For PhD programs: Minimum qualification of master's degree in a concerned field for 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. National level eligibility test such as GATE or NET is also a pre-requisite in other cases.
