Indian School of Mines (ISM) of Dhanbad is having its long tradition among oldest and most established institutes of our country. Which is now known as Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) was founded as English in 1926, called Bengal Technical Institute. Later, in 1967, it was renamed as Indian Statistical Institute. The once-pioneer in mining and metallurgical engineering education now strives to reach its grand old status as a faculty of the Indian Institutes of Technology and Science Education and Research with nine decades of its existence. The institute runs three programs namely Diploma in Engineering, Undergraduate degree in various Engineering specializations like Mining, Petroleum, Computer Science, among others. The 4-year B. Tech. degree program in Mining Engineering covers the subjects like Mine Development and Surveying, Surface Mining and Drilling Technology. The M.Tech program in Petroleum Engineering involves subjects such as reservoir engineering, production technology, project management and many advanced concepts. We have exams in the first semester in December 2024 and the second semester exams are slated for May 2025 for all courses. Institute of Science and Management, Dhanbad administers an entrance exam for those aspiring to take admission in B.Tech. The students will have to successfully complete Class 12 with subjects like Physics, Chemistry and mathematics or engineering Diploma. The list of any suitable candidates is shortlisted. Then, they are called to appear in the tests and interviews which are considered before merit list is prepared based on the procedure that carefully takes both exam scores and qualification into consideration.

- For BTech programs: The clear grade 12th with the at least 75% and above marks or 65% marks for the SC/ST in the Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.Qualify JEE Main exam.
- For integrated MSc programs: Vocabulary Type: Noun / Proper Noun / Part of Speech: Claim Humanize / Instruction: Delve deeper into arguments regarding surveillance and the protection of civil liberties.Qualify JAM entrance exam.
- For dual degree MTech programs: A bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject related to the area of specialization and with the same marks average marks 60%.Qualify GATE entrance exam.
- For MBA program: English language proficiency tests (TOEFL or IELTS) and undergraduate degree program in any discipline with CGPA of 50%.Qualify CAT/CMAT/MAT exams.
- For MSc programs: Undergraduate degree in the field with a minimum of 55% honors is a prerequisite. In addition, each branch organizers an own ceremony being implicit for the students who are applying there.
- For direct PhD programs: A graduate degree in the corresponding field of the specialty with a scientific knowledge equivalent in average marks. Under the departmental umbrella of Human Resource Development, our academy can qualify for other GATE/NET or departmental entrance tests the government has.

1. For BTech programs:

- Admissions are solely decided by JEE Main scores and are facilitated by the joSAA counseling process. 

- In these categories: general, obc, sc, st, are allotted different ratio for the admission.

2. For MTech programs: 

- Admission is on the basis of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) which decides the admission. 

- The shortlisted candidates will get a chance to appear for the face-to-face round of the interview and then only the final selection of the proper candidates will be made.

3. For MSc programs:

- The admission process is two-fold, the first stage being the national test for candidates who select the interview to the next stage.
