The Joint Online Allotment Process (JOAP), for candidates who have qualified in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and have desire for study in NITs, IIITs and PG institutes is another add up in NITs Admissions. COAP option gives candidate chance to contest in several institutes by his GATE score and orders.
COAP process involves selecting qualified candidates through Go-Ahead Test scores, number of seats extended, and availability of the seats. Candidates are listed after which they are permitted to apply for institutions and designations according to the order they have listed as their preference. Seats are then allotted to students by the COAP through several tranches using the portal. Candidates can send their application form to institutes where seats are vacant in the week of GATE. The seat allotment is conducted based on performance, choices filled and availability of seats. They can hang the offer for couple of seconds, slide it from front to back, and then take it at the final mark.

It is recommended that candidates will visit coap.iitb.ac.in for any updates on announcement of results and the schedule.
