1. Valid CAT/CMAT/GMAT score - Candidates need to have a valid score in CAT/CMAT/GMAT exams. This is the first screening criteria.
2. Academic record - Candidate's performance in 10th, 12th, and bachelor's degree is evaluated. Minimum of 60% or equivalent CGPA is required in bachelor's degree.

1. JEE Advanced rank: Only those students who come within the merit list of JEE Advanced will be eligible for the counselling. Selection will be made on the basis of overall rankings in the JEE Advanced examination. First and foremost will be prioritized.
2. Class 12th marks: Furthermore, apart from the JEE Advanced rank, the candidates should also have scored at least 75% marks or be part of top 20 percentile in their 12th class examination.
3. Age limit: This means that applicants should have been born on or after October 1, 1997. There is an age relaxation of five years for SC/ST/PwD category candidates, that is an individual should have birth date on or before October 1, 1992.
4. Number of attempts: The candidates are permitted to appear for JEE Advanced exam maximum twice in a row over the period of two years. This implies even if in the event that the candidate clears the examination at the first try.
5. Other criteria: The place of residence, caste, gender and many other factors may be involved in the process of the fragmentation of ties from the applicants. Should a tie persist, then JEE Advanced rank will be taken into account.

1. Written Test
- Candidates are required to appear in a written admission test that is every year conducted by NC Jnau. Interviewee shall be drawn from the those who displayed high scores in the written examination.
2. Academic Record
- The degree of the student in classes 10, 12 and undergraduate is ascertained by using grade/CGPA.
3. Interview
- The next phase is the interview round, where only the shortlisted candidates will have to appear. The IIT Guwahati is in charged of this interview round. The interview board scores the candidates on the components like their subject knowledge, communication skills and so on.
4. Work Experience

- Admissions to the M.Tech program are based on GATE scores. Candidates need to have a valid GATE score to be eligible.
