Jadavpur University in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, ranked among the IITs and other similar Indian universities for its engineering, science, humanities and social science curriculum. Towards 2024, our primary objective shall be to rank in the world top level university for higher education and research. 

Nowadays, the university enrols more than 8,500 students from the undergraduate, postgraduate programs and PhD courses across different disciplines. Jadavpur University is set to have an increased student intake of 10,000 by 2024 and have new programs initiated in the fields of emerging areas such as data science, climate change studies and sustainable development etc. They are also expecting faculty strength to grow from the current 600 to around 750.

Jadavpur University Eligibility Criteria 2024

1. For undergraduate programs: Certifying the closing of the enrollment exam of higher secondary school students (12th- grade level) or its equivalent exam with an average score of 45-55% and according to the plan.
2. For postgraduate programs: I. Bachelor's degree with minimum 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) from recognized college or university in the same subject. There might be some other requirements which are not listed in there.
3. For Engineering/Technology and Architecture programs: Moreover, among mandatory subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and according to the law, the appropriate score in each of them. The reserved category candidates would receive a breather as well.
4. For doctoral (PhD) programs: A degree in the area relevant from a good university with at least 55% or equivalent grade is the required criteria. So the candidates from reserved category will get 5% marks increase in their marking. It would be good to give extra marks to those candidates who have appeared in the qualifying test for national level tests like NET/GATE.
5. Age Limit: Applicants should not be restricted by any maximum age. But, for few professions or PhD degree programs there might be eligibility age in some cases.

Jadavpur University Courses Details 2024

Jadavpur University (JU) provides academic programmes ranging from undergraduate to doctoral levels in the fields of engineering, science, social science, humanities, law, and many other majors. JU is considered as prime example of exceptional university engineering and technology programs. The flagship ones are BTech in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and MTech, in VLSI & Microelectronics, Communication Engineering, and Power engineering, respectively. In addition to the regular BA/MA in languages, Economics, Sociology, International relations; BSc/MSc in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, the institute also offers MBA, MCA for top caliber students aspirants. Next to JU is a lot of recognition of arts and design courses (i.e., Fine Arts, Film Studies, Dance, and Music).

In case with JU, the annual fee options range from INR 6000-8000 and INR 10000-15000 for BA/BSc/BCom programs and engineering BTech courses correspondingly. The fees for MSc and MA colleges comes in the range of INR 5000 to 8000 per annum. MTech program is of the cost range of INR 10,000 to INR 18,000 per annum. The extra expenses are about INR. 5000 for IIT-JEE examinations and also, development and library fees.

Jadavpur University Admission Process 2024

1. Admission is possible only through the entrance tests and exams that are provided by the university in order to verify the candidate’s proficiency level. Different schools may have their own entrance requirements.
2. The process of admission for undergraduate studies relies on marks in Class 10 and board exams and test performance. 
3. MA,MSc and MTech which are PG programs; admission depends upon the final year or term grades/marks. Additionally, those taking the examination have to give the test their best.
4. Hence, instead of applying to a thesis programme, I have to only take the entrance exam and interview. There is an admission criteria that the candidate must have scored the minimum number of marks required to register for the competition.
5. While the candidacy process is initiated in March-April as applicants begin filling out online forms for various programs. Concerningly, there are various courses people can consider but they all have the quality of selectivity.
6. Along with the open merit based seats, our university rewards quota to many fields like sports quota, and quotas for differently abled persons.
