North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), the central university in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya with its proximity to the northeastern states, is situated in Shillong city, India. Built in 1973 and a reputable institution of higher learning in the North-Eastern region, it has stood the test of time. NHUE is famous not only for its scenic campus, itself a distinctive feature, but also its quality education. 

Besides the undergraduate, postgraduate and the research programs, the university adopts various programs of study in each of the arts, science, commerce, social sciences, education, law and other disciplines. Two of the most taken postgraduate programs at the NEHU are Foundation MA in Economics and Integrated MSc in Biotechnology regimes. The MA program of economics lays emphasis on microeconomics, macroeconomics, monetary economics, etc. The MSc course of biotechnology takes accounts of microbial biotechnology, plant biotechnology, animal biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, and environmental biotechnology.

The final NEHU end semester examination of the year 2023 is scheduled in the month of November to December 2023 while the mid semester exams of the year 2024 will be held in May 2024. The admissions cycle NEHU 2024 will take place during the month of May-June 2023. Applications will be submitted online either via the university website or admission portal only. Admissions may be offered on the basis of national/state level entrance test or caste/class. North-Eastern Hill University Eligibility Criteria 2024

- +2 or +3years or equivalent qualification with minimum 50% marks (45% reserved marks for SC/ST candidates).

- Attendance to NEHU entrance examination and/or interview for the ones who require it for program qualifying.

- A subject-specific part which includes subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Math or Biology for the programs like Engineering, Medicine etc.

- Age restriction - generally 21 yrs for undergraduate programmes with relaxations due to respective government norms

- Darpan - Only candidates who possess the permanent resident certificate of the North Eastern states will be quota-eligible. 

- Reservation Guidelines - Central government's policies on quotas for SC, ST, OBC, and PWD candidates as per the norms of reservation.

North-Eastern Hill University Admission Process 2024

- NEHU does the entrance exams to get and accept students for respective undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs. Testing is carried out under the national aegis

- The NEHU Common Entrance Test (CET) results carry the main weight while admissions for undergraduate programs are considered. A few schemes too may have a tie-up with class 12th marks and entrance tests.

- NEHU conducts an entrance examination for MPhil and PhD programs; the oral examination along with the written examination is also performed. Those who are passed on due to the high marks they accumulated are called for the interview. 

- The application forms for different types of programs, for example, are posted online at the university website. The applicants must complete the forms, fill it up and submit on a date before the deadline includes some documents as well.

- The applicants in general quota must secure 50% of aggregate marks in the subjects which will qualify as relevant exams. Reserved category candidates may receive a slighter lesser weight or even some sort of exemption case scenario.  

- Selection of candidate for the particular admission program is based upon their submission of all necessary documents and getting through the entrance exam as well as personal interview. This is followed by payment of admission/tuition fees as required within stipulated period.

- International applicants have a separate admission procedure that contains English proficiency requirements, University entrance exams, etc. and is related to the certain program.
