Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is the central university with the campus located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. Initially started as Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College (established in 1875 by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan), it was upgraded to a University under the name Aligarh Muslim University in 1920. AMU is found to be furnishing with more than 350 varieties of conventional educations and contemporary topics. The university is among the most populous college with an estimate of over 30,000 students and about 1,700 teaching staff. It is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious and prominent Indian universities. Besides BA in the disciplines such as Economics, English Literature, Political Science and Sociology, and BCom, the major courses AMU provides are as well. The engineering program ‘Bachelor of Technology’ (BTech) in sections like ‘Civil engineering’, ‘Computer engineering’, ‘Mechanical engineering’, etc., is one of the courses which is taught here and from April-May. the year 2024 the entrance exam which is known as AMU Entrance Test will be held. October-November and March-April is for written exams for second semester classes each year. Odd semesters will take place in October-November while even semesters will take place around March-April. The AMU application form online for admission that will be released in January 2024 will be available on the official college website. Aptitude test and Class 12th result are the parameters used to select candidate.

Aligarh Muslim University Eligibility Criteria 2024

- For undergraduate programs: Being successful in school final or entrance exam for college or technical education with the marking exam rules and regulations depending on the kind of program. Students who have mastered relevant areas in school and college can be involved.

- For postgraduate programs: An appropriate Bachelor’s degree with marks that are not less than the minimum cut-off percentage. This is different in various programs, though, is usually 50% or even more. 

- For diploma and certificate programs: Criteria may differ; however, it usually includes the 10+2 examination requirement or a bachelor's degree in case of longer course programs. In some cases it may be advisable to have certain experiences to acquire.

- For research programs like Ph.D: Master's degree with relevant topic with at least 55% marks Complementary exam may require gaining eligibility as well.

- Relaxation of percentage at the qualifying marks is also available for candidates of reserved category by applying the norms of the government.

- Foreign applicants fill in 5% time slots on a minimum basis in the diverse programs. Also meet the criteria AMU set above and like all candidates, all of them have to sit for the entrance exam of AMU.

- Moreover, applicants must satisfy age requirements as well as other specifications for which the AMU offers certain programs.

Aligarh Muslim University Admission Process 2024

1. Entrance Tests

- AUS adopts its own entrance exams to select candidates into various UG and PG programs. The seasons mentioned are the times when these tests occur, specifically, between April and June every year.

2. Online Application 

- People will fill online application forms through AMU website. Generally, applications become available in the second half of January or February before the final due date in the third or fourth week of March.

3. Eligibility Criteria

- The candidates have to meet the requirements with regard to education, age limit, and other criteria that are given in the admission prospectus. The criterias can be found in the admission brochure.

4. Selection Process

- For the majority of the disciplines, students will be selected if the written examination and the interview are their excellent score. To take some courses, students might be able to become direct entrants just on the basis of their Class 12 grades.

5. Reservations

- AMU grants seat-reservations to applicants who fall under specific classification, such as female candidates, internal candidates, Alim and Fatimid degrees holders, just to mention but a few. There is reservation in the clauses for OBC, SC, ST and PwD candidates.

6. Admission Confirmation

- Those who have been shortlisted must verify all the documents and deposit fees before the deadline. This will prevent any further delays.
