Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya Master of Computer Applications [M.C.A] Selection Criteria

- The entry to the MCA program is done mainly on the performance in entrance exam conducted by RGPV. Aspirants who want to appear in the test must first go through the entrance test.

- The entrance examination has been designed to be made up of 100 multiple-choice questions on quantitative ability, logical reasoning, english and aptitude, each carrying one mark. It lasts for 2 hours.

- The first step is followed by an entrance test whose scores are used to arrange candidates in order to prepare a merit list. Those in the Merit List are then called in for counseling according to the order of merit obtained in the entrance test.

- The job of a candidate in counseling is to fill in the specializations and college of his choice, where he can gain admission. Places are allocated according to the rank, choice counters, and availability.

- For being eligible, the candidates should have obtained their bachelor degree in the (10+2+3 pattern) with minimum marks of 50% marks (45% for reserved category) with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduate level.

- The age limit and residential status of the applicants are not been restrictively considered for the RGPV MCA entrance examination. Admission will be determined by the entrance rank, among other factors, in the order of the preference, the availability of seats and the counseling.

- RGPV undertakes a RET (Research Eligibility Test) entrance test for PH.D programmes admission. There is a need for applying such criteria as limiting the candidates with minimum passing grades.

- Shortlisted candidates known RET scores only are called for the interview. In the next step, the interview panel will verify the level of research potential, breadth of subject knowledge and general academic performance of the candidates.

- If you want to get admission in the PhD class you must have done your Master degree in the same stream and your minimum marks should be 55% (opens up to 5% for the reserved sections).

- An additional set of requirements may be introduced as per subject, department, which may consist of valid GATE/NET score or work experience or sole subject test as per department.

- Ultimately, a composite score of 40% weightage for RET, 30% for performance at the interview, and 30% for detailed analysis of academic or professional qualifications and achievements is taken into account for arriving at the final list.

- Admission will be a result of a GATE exam (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score. Applicants are required to have valid GATE scores for admission.

- The university provides M.Tech programs in the following specialization areas and the students are admitted to these specializations independently: Thermal engineering; Digital communication; Computer-aided design and manufacturing; Power electronics; so on.

- In case of GATE qualified candidates, the criteria for selection is merit based on the candidate's GATE score. Cut-off marks can as well change from year to year and with regards to various specializations because of the number of available seats and the volume of applicants.
