IIT Mandi 2024: Admission, Courses, Fees & Rankings

IIT Mandi is one of the new IITs set up by the Government of India on 2009-10. It is an institute of National Importance acknowledged by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961. The accreditation status of the IIT Mandi is Grade ‘A’ from NAAC in the year 2020. In the NIRF Rankings 2023 recently released, IIT Mandi ranks 56 out of the 200 engineering colleges in the country.

The institute provides numerous academic programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in the faculties of Engineering & Applied Sciences, Basic Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences. The most sought BA/B.Tech programs include Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering among others. Most of the time the students have to clear one of the national level engineering entrance examination such as JEE Advanced. Regarding the entrance test schedule and admission process for the academic year 2024, the tentative exam dates will be announced on the official website of the institute during the year 2023.  

IIT Mandi has all the modern facilities for supporting its students and it also has good faculty to support the students to make its students placed in the top companies through campus placements every year. Over eighty companies visit IIT Mandi for campus placements and some of them are Microsoft, Amazon, SAMSUNG R&D, Texas Instruments, BAJAJ, AXIS BANK, EXTRAMARKS, NAGARRO, NUTANIX etc. and government sectors like ISRO, DRDO, IOCL etc. The maximum salary package offered for the 2021-22 batch was around 70 thousands per annum and the average salary package seen was 16.3 thousand per annum. It is notable that 86 percent students got placed in the campus interviews from the batch of 2021-22.

IIT Mandi Courses Details 2024

IIT Mandi is one of the IITs established in India and offers programs for under graduate, post graduate, and doctoral level in engineering, sciences, and humanities. The BTech program is available in Computer Science & Engineering along with Electrical, Mechanical, & Civil Engineering at an affordable tuition fee of ?2-3 lakhs per year. 

MTech courses are in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, Materials Science and Infrastructure with fees ranging ? 50,000 to 1 lakh per annum. IIT Mandi also enroll students in MSc programmes in physics, chemistry, mathematics and computing where the fee is about ?10,000 per semester.

The PhD is open in all departments of the university with no tuition fees, while scholars are provided with ?31,000 monthly for the first two years and can be extended up to five years depending on their performance. The specializations offered in this stream are as follows: the BTech admission is through JEE Advanced, MTech through GATE score, MSc through IIT Mandi admission test and PhD through interview.
