- The admission is done on the basis of the marks secured in the qualifying examination which came out on the previous year (i.e., Class 12th /Intermediate).

- The Tamil Nadu candidates who had taken both class XI and XII under the Tamil Nadu Board or its equivalent would need to clear their class XII final exam (Tamil Nadu's Higher Secondary Exam) to qualify.

- However, for some candidates the qualifying criteria is Class 11th or equivalent exams as duly recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
