Himachal Pradesh University – which is a state public university situated in Shimla, and was established in 1970. It gives the chance for students to major in different faculty areas such as science, social sciences, commerce, education, law and others at the undergraduate and the postgraduate levels. The university has over 150 sub-campuses focusing on colleges located in different parts of Himachal Pradesh. It targets more research and innovation.

The main educational facilities that the company provides are the Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) and Bachelor of Arts (BA). The MCA program is a 3-year full-time course in the fields of software languages, database systems, information technology, application software design and software development etc. Qualifications are a bachelor’s degree with option of mathematics in class XII. BA is a 3-year full-time general degree program with major areas of specialization in English, economics, history and tons of others. The requirement is Class XII in any subject field.

Himachal Pradesh University Eligibility Criteria 2024

- For undergraduate programs: Should have either qualified for grade 10+2 or equivalent examination with the mandatory mark passing marks dependent on the program.

- For postgraduate programs: Bachelor's degree in any of the relevant subjects with at least the passed marks as required, which varies from program to program but generally around 50% or 55% depending on the program.

- For MPhil and PhD: At Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject provided by the university with the minimum grade point average needed (typically 5.5). Along with this, students should take entrance tests for their careers of choice.

- For diploma and certificate programs: 10+2 class or bachelor's degree as the requirement of a program. 

- Reservation in the number of marks that have been set for students from the reserved category is in line with the government rules.

- There can be further eligibility criteria in an extent of entering the age limits, clearing the entrance test or any other. Which will vary from one program to another.

Himachal Pradesh University Admission Process 2024

1. Application Form

- Students either choose to fill the online application form or the offline one together with the given deadline. Forms are usually given out in May, either at your school or a financial aid office.

2. Entrance Exams

- Entrance test for some highly input-oriented programs like MBA, Msc in Computer Application, or Engineering may be required to be done at university level or at state/national level.

3. Merit List

- After the declarations of the entrance test results, the university then breaks down and puts up the merit list for different programs depending on merit, reservations, etc.  

4. Counselling 

- Students whose names appear on the merit list are called for counselling accordingly and according to their availability of seats. Following that particular organization should approve their documents and eligibility.

5. Entry & Tuition fee

- Following counselling, if a candidate is admitted, he or she is required to stick within the stipulated time period when paying the fees to ensure confirmation of the admission.

6. Enrollment 

- As soon as the admission formalities are done, the student becomes a student of the university by getting enrolled for their chosen academic program.
