AIIMS New Delhi has a Ph.D program in different medical and allied sciences disciplines, for instance. The general goal of the Ph.D. program is to develop researchers who can conduct their own original research and become expert in the area they choose.
The Ph.D. program has a minimum period of 3 years for postgraduate medical degree holders and 5 years for graduates. This process comprises of advanced course work, qualifying examination, research proposal development and defense, original research work under a recognized guide and at last thesis submission and oral defense.
Ph.D. scholars do research work in various departments and centers of excellence like biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, surgery, nuclear medicine, cardiovascular sciences, neurosciences etc. at AIIMS New Delhi. The emphasis is on the basic, clinical and translational research on different diseases, public health issues etc. which are facilitated by the availability of the advanced research facilities and funding support.

AIIMS New Delhi Ph.D Selection Criteria
1. A candidate must hold a master's degree in the subject matter and must have scored at least 55% or equivalent grade in the required subject.
2. The test is computer-based and the interview is conducted afterwards. The CBT tests general aptitudes, subject comprehension abilities, and researches.
3. Those who are shortlisted from the CBT will be sent for interviews where the hiring committee will assess them. The interview rates the candidate's level of such skills as subject-matter knowledge, research potential, communication and critical thinking skills.
4. Final segment includes the candidate's CBT result, interview outcome, academic qualifications and research experience among others.
5. Reservation guidelines as prescribed by the Government of India are adhered while selecting candidates.
6. Pre-selected PhD candidates are required to register for the program within a specific period, during which admission is verifiable.
7. Merit scholarship could be possible if scholars meet the eligibility criteria.
