1. Entrance Exam: A student must only be eligible and qualified for both the basic entrance test for medical aspirants, that is, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which is conducted by the National Testing Agency. A list of applicants scoring well in NEET is created for AIIMS entrance exam.

2. AIIMS Entrance Exam: Scrutinized aspirants need to clear the AIIMS entrance exam that gauges their potential, intellect and analytical mind. This test has approx. 200 multiple choice questions, negative marking for wrong answers, is very long and thus, consumes a lot of time.

3. Counselling Process: The AIIMS's another advantage is that it prefers to assess people being called for the counselling sessions who obtain the minimum cut-off in the AIIMS entrance exam. In the counselling, the students are given courses of their chosen undergraduate classes that are spread across the different AIIMS institutes across the country under the choice and ranking system applied according to their score.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences Application Procedure

1. Application Form - AIIMS official application form is made available usually in the Jan /Feb period every year. Candidates will be expected to fill the online application form together with money fee attached.

2. Aptitude Test - AIIMS conducts the countrywide entrance test that is conducted generally in May/June for seeking admissions into its undergraduate(MBBS) as well as postgraduate (MD/MS) medical courses. The Exam features MCQ's about Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and general knowledge.

3. Result declaration - AIIMS declares AIIMS entrance exam result on its official website usaully within a month after the examination. Candidates, having met all the criteria get an opportunity to appear for the counseling session.

4. Counseling Process - A qualified applicant is called, through which he/she is assigned his/her spot and offered a seat depending on the seat availability, their ranking, and choices filled. There is a process of multiple counseling sessions and each of the overcrowded sessions are for the seats that are begotten in the previous rounds.

5. Medical checkup - Successful candidates are given a medical checkup as per AIIMS rules to finalize admission.  

6. Admission - After medical fitness each candidate will provide admission document and certificates will be verified and admission fees paid for the candidate to be able to proceed to the next level.
