- Contenders should have a master\'s degree in the relevant subject; the grade point atleast 55% or its equivalent grade.

- The evaluation process is also conducted through a written entrance test administered by the university covering research aptitude, subject knowledge, and general awareness. This screening test carries a minimum cut-off mark and only those who clear it go ahead.

- The qualification is based on the marks obtained in the 12th board exam, generally known as merit. Students are to have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 12d for their eligibility.

- By taking state or national level engineering entrance exams such as UPSEE and JEE (advanced) the admission process is completed. The university uses scores/ranks in these exams to prepare the merit lists.
