The PhD in Physiology is 3-year, full-time degree program at the doctoral level, where the focus of the study is the research of the complex processes and systems of the human body. Students also gain not only a more general overview but also have in-depth knowledge of such areas as cellular physiology, neurophysiology, cardiovascular physiology, respiratory physiology, gastrointestinal physiology, renal physiology, endocrinology, reproductive physiology and environmental physiology. 

Through the program, students will study area such as research methodology, biostatistics, cell and molecular biology and will be able to choose electives as well. Students show their skills by carrying out a doctoral research thesis under supervision of faculty members in the field of physiology on the topic of a high-level research issue which is relevant to a specialized area of physiology. The research task is accomplished when a dissertation is submitted and the student has to defend it for the qualification to be awarded.

1. Be a bachelor's degree holder in physiology, biology, or other related field having a get a good academic record, which should include coursework in advanced biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics as well.  

2. In order to appear on the radar of admission committees, take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and have competitive scores, especially on quantitative side. A good action plan is pursued by programs that find GRE verbal and quantitative scores above 150.

3. Discover research interests and find potential faculty advisors who can be contacted to discuss projects that can serve as a research base for physiology grad students. The internship as well as the assistantship would certainly help me move up the learning curve.  

4. Submit a comprehensive application package inclusive of transcripts, GRE score, recommendation letters from professors or research supervisors, a statement of purpose that identifies research interests and the way they interface with the program, and possibly a writing sample that shows research or analytical skills in a physiology related area.

PhD Physiology Course Eligibility 2024

1. A degree in Physiology or a corresponding field such as Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Zoology etc. with at least 55% marks from a reputable university is required from you.

2. Specifically, applications from those who have qualified in the National Eligibility Test of the JRF (CSIR-UGC NET), and similar national level exams are eligible for a Ph.D. in physiology. 

3. Some universities subject to their own special examinations on competence in conducting scientific research that permits students who demonstrate research aptitude to apply for Ph.D. position in Physiology. You must get these out of your system first to be considered.

4. MBBS candidates who have passed Aptitude test can also be taken as eligible for PhD Physiology programs aside from the other requirements set by the school. When you are applying for a job where you have to use research skills, relevant research experience is the common requirement.
