Applications are invited in the prescribed form for admission to the PhD Programme for the session 2024 at University of Jammu. The notification for admission is generally sent in April/May on the official website of the particular university. The candidates have to possess master degree in concerned /specialization subject with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade. Also, some departments may demand the candidates to have qualified in UGC NET/JRF or SLET. Seats are provided for science, Social science, Humanities, Commerce, Education, Law, Management and several other fields. 

The criteria for selection include an entrance test and an interview. The entrance test provides questions of objective type for assessing the research aptitude, subject knowledge and analytical ability of the candidates. The candidates who pass through the preliminary consideration are invited for an interview where their potential research topics and ability are assessed. Finally, the merit list is prepared on the basis of total score affixed by candidates in test and interview.

How to Apply for Ph.D in University of Jammu 2024?

1. The university has some standard conditions that a student has to meet; these are found on the university website under the eligibility criteria such as education standards and entrance examinations.

2. State down the department and research area of your interest 

3. Download application form when notifications are out, it is usually within May and June.  

4. Affix paperwork such as photocopies of degrees, experience certificates AADHAAR card etc.

5. Candidates should fill up the recommended application forms and submit the duly completed forms before the deadline, which is usually in July.

6. Take entrance test and/or interview for the specific department as decided by the concerned authority.

7. By September, the selection list is usually posted on the website, check the list when it is out.

8. At the end take admission by doing all processes required in admission if you got selected.
