The University of Madras is among the first universities to be established in India and began its operations in 1857 in Chennai. It is a state institution that is public and which offers a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in diverse subject areas. The university operates 6 campuses plus 150 colleges under alliance. Two university offerings from which students can choose include the B.A. Economics major and the M.Sc. degree program in Information Technology. BA Economics degree delivers to students knowledge in fields of microeconomics, macroeconomics, analytical economics, public economics and mathematical economics during period of time it takes for this program to end, which is 3 years. The degree of Master Information Technology is two year program, it comprises the topics, database management systems, data analytics, machine learning and data science. The admission tests are usually scheduled in November-December and April-May every year.

University of Madras Eligibility Criteria 2024
1. The candidate should be an Indian national.
2. Candidate must at least have passed 10+2 examination in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics.
3. MBBS candidate must have scored atleast 50 % marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination. For reserved categories the minimum mark is set at 40%.
4. For engineering, at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) should have been secured in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
5. For art and science courses they should have been in 10+2 or equivalent and have the necessary subjects. Requirements for minimum marks may differ from programs to programs.
6. Applicant should also fulfill any program specific criteria set by University of Madras in addition to the general requirements.
7. The candidate must meet all prerequisites set forward by the regulating bodies such as UGC, AICTE etc.
8. The candidate must be within the age limit requirement for the program they applied for.

University of Madras Admission Process 2024
1. Apply for admission
Candidates need to fill out the application form online or obtain a physical copy and submit it before the deadline along with necessary documents.
2. Entrance exam

3. Publication of merit list
