The history of arts goes back to paleolithic period where people used body painting, and made art in form of paintings on the walls of caves. Arts leads to numerous courses that include various levels of study as mentioned below. Undergraduate programmes are Bachelor of Arts which can be taken in areas such as English Literature, History, Philosophy, Music, Fine Arts, Theater Arts, etc. Applicants should have completed the Grade 12 or any equivalent qualifications with minimum pass. There are also the diploma and certification courses to undertake in areas of photography, animation, culinary arts, fashion designing, and the like that requires the credit of at least passing the Grade 10 or 12 examination. In postgraduate education, students can undertake masters and postgraduate and research in arts and humanities discipline, which are usually offered to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in the discipline.

Arts Courses in India Eligibility Criteria

1. The candidate must have passed 10+2 exam from any stream viz Science, Commerce and Arts with minimum 50% marks from a recognized board.

2. For some courses there are no entrance examinations; any graduate can apply and the stream need not be specifically humanities, science or commerce.

3. It is noteworthy that there are concessions given to the students belonging to the reserve category regarding cutoff percentage.

4. They may require certain subjects in 10+2 such as English as compulsory or optional in some courses.
