BEd (Bachelor of Education) is a professional degree that is designed to make a person ready for teaching job in the school. The BEd degree was brought to India in the early 20th century during the colonial rule with the Public Instruction Acts of 1937 while teacher education programs first existed in the 1840s. In 1947, the year India obtained independence, the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) was established with the purpose of setting quality stipulations for teacher education.
As a rule, there are 2 years study during the BEd program of full-time mode. In the rule of eligibility, it is required that a candidate with a minimum 50% marks in his/her bachelor's degree. Some higher institutions of learning might have interdisciplinary BEd programmes that can run from 4-5 years after the 12th grade. The BEd curriculum encompasses various domains such as education foundations, curriculum studies, instructional model, psychological theory, and management sciences. This programme also features various internship programs in schools.

1. Class 10+2 pass from any stream of having recognition in the statistical board. Thus, the students can join the program who are already in Class 10+2, also.
