BEd (Bachelor of Education) is a professional degree that is designed to make a person ready for teaching job in the school. The BEd degree was brought to India in the early 20th century during the colonial rule with the Public Instruction Acts of 1937 while teacher education programs first existed in the 1840s. In 1947, the year India obtained independence, the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) was established with the purpose of setting quality stipulations for teacher education.

As a rule, there are 2 years study during the BEd program of full-time mode. In the rule of eligibility, it is required that a candidate with a minimum 50% marks in his/her bachelor's degree. Some higher institutions of learning might have interdisciplinary BEd programmes that can run from 4-5 years after the 12th grade. The BEd curriculum encompasses various domains such as education foundations, curriculum studies, instructional model, psychological theory, and management sciences. This programme also features various internship programs in schools.

BEd Admission 2024

The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is a two-year undergraduate program that prepares students to become teachers at the primary, secondary, and senior secondary levels. 

BEd Course Eligibility 2024

1. Class 10+2 pass from any stream of having recognition in the statistical board. Thus, the students can join the program who are already in Class 10+2, also.

2. Admission at Hindu college will be granted to those students who have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% or 45% and above for reserved category at the 10+2 examination.

3. Degree certification from one of the majors with 60% of marks (60% for reserved category).

4. A candidate applying for the BEd program must hold a master's degree in any field or should belong to the pool of passed-out students.

5. On the other hand, the college can organize competition for the admission to BEd that will be the other method of getting admission into the university.

6. While some Colleges impose age limits up to 35 or 36 years of age for the award of BEd.

7. The first requirement for future teachers to get entry into the BEd accredited program is to pass the state or national examination(s) over which the relevant authority holds jurisdiction. Qualified individuals have to meet the requirements specified by the specific college they want the school to consider their admission.

8. The number of seats allocated to participants in the reserved category as per the norms given by the central government is a matter of concern.

9. Some universities conduct interviews together with other procedures for admission as freshmen and emphasizing communication skills of the candidate is one of them.

10. Those who will pass the training will receive the certificate thus guaranteeing some schools access to the right kind of teachers of tomorrow.

Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] Entrance Exams

CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test): Conducted by CBSE, CTET certifies the suitability of candidates for the posts of teachers in central government schools.

UP B.Ed Joint Entrance Exam: Uttar Pradesh B.Ed JEE is organized in order to screen candidates for B.Ed courses in Uttar Pradesh colleges, using aptitude for teaching as a parameter.

DU B.Ed Entrance Exam: Conducted by Delhi University this exam assesses candidate's readiness for admission to the B.Ed course offered by the university.

Rajasthan PTET (Pre-Teacher Education Test): Rajasthan PTET exam assesses the suitability of candidates for admission to B.Ed program in colleges in Rajasthan in terms of teaching aptitude and subject knowledge.

HPU B.Ed Entrance Exam: Himachal Pradesh University organizes this exam for admitting students to its B.Ed program, which assesses the candidate for a teaching position.

MP B.Ed Entrance Exam: The Madhya Pradesh State Entrance Exam for admission to B.Ed Courses in colleges across the state looks at traits such as teaching aptitude and subject knowledge.

BHU B.Ed Entrance Exam: Banaras Hindu University holds this exam for the admission of B.Ed program, assessing candidates' competency for teaching positions.

Punjab B.Ed Entrance Exam: Conducted by University of The Punjab, this test evaluates candidates for B.Ed admission in the colleges of Punjab encompassing the teaching capability and subject knowledge.

Haryana B.Ed Entrance Exam: Haryana B.Ed Entrance Test is an entrance exam for admission to BEd courses in colleges in Haryana, this test evaluate teaching aptitude and subject knowledge.

Bihar B.Ed CET (Common Entrance Test): Bihar BEd CET is conducted for seeking admission to the B.Ed courses in colleges across Bihar, evaluating the aptitude of the candidates for teaching profession.
