Economics, management and commerce degree programs are the compass of B.Com curriculum and this is a typical undergraduate program that normally lasts for 3 years. The B.Com degree is rooted back in the 19th century when the British Rule tried to meet the trade, administration and management of commerce and accounting.
The University of Calcutta obstructed the introduction of B.Com program in India in the early 1900's and this was in 1903. Since the very beginning, the course has continued to make improvements along with the development of the modern times. Most universities now operate along the model curriculum prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The subjects in commerce, economics and accounting are all clubbed together. The second category includes marketing, management and finance papers. Generic elective papers also come from other social science disciplines.
