The MSc of Psychiatric nursing is 2 years of full time postgraduate degree program that is focused on the assessment, treatment and care of patients who are suffering from various psychiatric disorders and other psychological issues. The curriculum offers upgraded education in psychosocial and psychotherapeutic treatments, psychopathology, psychiatric diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and the care of community mental health problems.

Students master such skills like assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental problems of different ages of patients that can include depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, substance abuse and other mental illnesses. Major topics to be concerned with involving leading psychiatry nursing procedures, counseling and psychotherapy skills, epidemiology of mental disorders, transcultural mental health nursing, child and adolescent psychiatric nursing, geriatric nursing, and research methodology.

M.Sc Psychiatric Nursing Admission Process

1. Medical Nursing with a specialty in Psychiatry takes 2 years of study where students are expected to take full-time classwork. 

2. The requirement will be BSc Nursing degree score not less than 55%.

3. Generally, universities have their own tests (e. g. entrance exam) requirement. 

4. The grade is assessed based on these 3 standards: academic record, entrance exam scores, and interview. 

5. Visit websites of respective universities to fill the form and submit application before specified deadline. 

6. The program aims to educate about psychiatric disorders, therapies, their effects on the community, and research methods. 

7. Job opportunities can be found in hospitals, clinics, academy, administration, or planning.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Psychiatric Nursing) Eligibility

1. BSc degree in Nursing with marks 55% minimum, from acknowledged college or university. Have a valid license of the RN and RMN positions from the board with the minimum 1 year after the registration.

2. Candidates should pass National / State entrance tests for BSc Nursing. Secondly, to get English proficiency certificates like IELTS/TOEFL requires non-English medium candidates. 

3. The upper age limit for the open category candidates should not be exceeded by 38. The rule of age relaxation is according to the regulation of the twelfth government for candidates belonging to the reserved category. 

4. The candidates selected should be medically fit and the medical test - The test parameters should check for the mental fitness as per institute norms should be passed with satisfactory psychometric score.

5. Moreover, the interview performance is a critical factor for probationary confirmation after clearing written entrance tests (admission tests). Critical skills for counsellors are measured through interviews.
