West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), built in 2002, was the first affiliation to all medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, homeopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga colleges and institutes in the state of West Bengal. WBUHS is behind the spread of academic excellence and innovative approach in the different management developments in the healthcare sector via research, teaching, and training.

The university caters to both UG and PG programs that are three academic years for BSc nursing with a topic of fundamentals of nursing, community health nursing, mental health nursing etc. and, the six years long course of Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) that covers broad areas like pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacology. The winter semester class examinations for most of the subjects of WBUHS are likely conducted in November - December 2024, while the summer semester class examinations are likely to be taken in the month of May 2025.

The admission application process will kick off in the throes of May-June 2023 next year. There will be on online registration of contestants through the official website from where they will sit for an entrance test if necessary. The choice will be made after taking into account the merit. The candidates are advised to keep visiting the university website on a regular basis to get exact date of admission, application process, and eligibility criteria for different programs. With the limited seats, it is a bit difficult to get admission into some programs like PharmD and Nursing.

West Bengal University of Health Sciences Admission Process 2024

- To get medical college admission offered by the institute, eligible candidates must await and appear for entrance exam results at the state level or national level. For MBBS or BDS - NEET, for nursing - WBPCB, and other exams like SSC CGL, CHSL, etc. are covered.

- Then the university uploads the list of qualified candidates along with the instructions and paper work related to counselling and admission on its webpage. The candidates should check the application calendar and apply on time.

- During counselling, candidates come in and pay tuition fees, after which they select their college and course, in line with the merit rank of the entrance test. The options for the preferences must be handled very cautiously. Seat allocations are done in counselling rounds, usually in a few rounds of counselling.

- Following the allotment of the college, a candidate has to physically report to the concerned college in writing with all the documents like admit card, mark certificates, transcripts, etc. within the stipulated time for document verification and fee payment so that the admission of the candidate is confirmed.

- The university will implement the reserved seats system, as stipulated by the reserved quota for seats which includes SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates as per government guidelines for the seats under reserved category. Some seats too are for the forward class candidates of armed forces and paramilitary.

- The selection will be merit based, test rank will be important, admission priority will be paid to the genuine applicants, the seats available will be shown in the counseling, necessary documents will be verified and lastly, fee will be paid. The undertaking is being coordinated together with the university and all the respective curriculum colleges. The candidates must be following all rules and directions as indicated.
