Assam University Ph.D Selection Criteria

1. Qualifying Entrance Exam: Candidates have to appear for and qualify an entrance exam conducted by the university. The weightage given to entrance exam marks varies across departments. It can be up to 70-80% of total selection criteria in some subjects.

2. Academic Record: Candidate's performance in past academic degrees like Masters, MPhil etc. is evaluated. High scores in academics are given certain weightage (around 20-30%) during selection. Some departments may even have minimum qualifying marks requirements.

3. Interview Performance: Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview or viva-voce round. The interview panel evaluates the candidate's grasp over core concepts, research aptitude, subject interest and inclination towards an academic/research career. Around 10-20% weightage is allocated for interview performance.

4. Research Proposal: In some departments, candidates are required to submit a brief research proposal on their intended Ph.D research topic. Its feasibility, academic rigour and alignment with faculty research interests is assessed during selection.

1. Check Notification for Ph.D admissions on the Assam University website (https://aus.ac.in/ and newspaper advertisements. Admissions are generally notified twice per year.

Assam University Master of Commerce [M.Com] Selection Criteria

1. Graduation Degree
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from a university in one of the relevant courses such as commerce or finance.

2. Minimum Percentage
The minimum qualifying marks to be secured should be aggregated as 45-50% (40-45% for reserved categories) at graduation level.

3. Entrance Test
Those candidates must go to the entrance test if it is taken place by the university when the amount of candidates are having a lot of amount. The test is much narrower than the previous one: it covers only the commercial subjects that applicants have taken during graduation.

4. Personal Interview
Qualified candidates based on the points scored during the entrance test will be invited for personal interviews and those who best have the qualification will be selected.
