Assam University, a central university based in Silchar, Assam, is a superior institute. It was established in 1994 and is known as one of the leading colleges in Northeast India for teaching and research and is running different kinds of programs such as undergraduate,postgraduate and doctorates in science, arts, commerce, engineering and law.
The university has close to 30 courses that transcend disciplines and faculties. The most popular courses are Btech in Computer Science and Engineering, and MA in socioology. The BTech program covers the foundation of computing, programming, data structures, algorithms and have learnt the new thing emerged like data science, cloud computing, etc. The MA Sociology covers the principles of the sociology, the research methods and the theories of sociology, social issues and problems.
