Education of pharmacy in India has faced a great change in its character. At present there are already more than a thousand pharmacy colleges across the country which offer programs up to the Diplomas, Bachelor's, Master's and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees. Admission to pharmacy colleges is determined by scores in college level exams or through entrance examinations.
The BPharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) Program is the highest demand qualification and minimum qualification to practice as a pharmacist in India. The program is 4 years duration marked by subjects like pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, and pharmacy practice as mandatory subjects. In the recent years, the number of private B.Pharm. colleges in India has grown exponentially, highly variable in terms of the level of education and infrastructure provided.
1. Decide on the type of pharmacy school you prefer to enroll to - BPharm (Bachelors), DPharm (Diploma) etc. Look around for the appropriate college that present your program.
2. Look up the Pharmacy Council of India and other arounds to know the eligibility criteria in terms of grades and subjects.
3. Enroll for national/state level common entrance exams such as GPAT and also register for the colleges specific entrance exams you need to appear for the admission to the college.
4. Now that you’ve got your results, it’s time to apply to colleges you can get admission into based on your scores/rank and preference.
5. Complete application forms, by the stipulated date, of the colleges that you shortlisted, while handing all the documents. Ensure applications are in their finish stages.
6. Assuming admission is confirmed, ensure acceptance by paying fees and completing registration requirements before classes begin. Submit any pending documents.
