The Master of Science program in Biochemistry is a postgraduate academic course typically of 2 years' duration. Conditions must be met to obtain an MPhil in Biochemistry. These conditions are: master’s degree in biochemistry, life sciences, microbiology or other related fields with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or similar. This is a 24-month coursework-based program that includes four semesters (two academic years).
The course outline consist of more complicated topics in biochemistry with elements like structural biology, macromolecular crystallography, molecular biology, analytical techniques, regulation of metabolic pathways, more advanced enzymology, clinical biochemistry, neurochemistry, microbiology and immunology. This program is a comprehensive teaching and research type which not only teaches but also trains. The first year contains specialised theoretical classes and laboratory work while in the second year students are supposed to research something, stipulating a supervisor and submitting a dissertation.
