Master of Surgery (MS) (Orthopaedics) is an educational program that focuses on training medical professionals in the specialized area of orthopaedics. The period in MS Orthopaedics is 3 years with equal emphasis on class room learning and practical experience in clinic under the supervision of Orthopaedic specialists. The course enhances overall understanding of orthopaedics and offers detailed information about the topic that covers trauma, arthroscopy, spine surgery, pediatric orthopaedics, bone tumors among others. As for the key topic, the musculoskeletal system, students get acquainted with the structure, function, and movement of the body parts involved. They also learn detailed procedures and methods of surgeries and treatments in connection with diseases of bone, joints, nerves, ligaments etc. Clinical clerkship which is practical, involves attending ward duties, assisting in operations, post operative care which is a part of the course. 

In India the entrance exams that are accepted for admission to MS Orthopaedics programs include NEET SS conducted by the National Board of Examinations , AIIMS PG conducted by AIIMS New Delhi and AIPGMEE conducted by the National Board of Examinations. Certain colleges also offer admission to students through the basis of these entrance tests in addition to the standard academic performance. Most institutes follow a process of entrance examination and then counseling for seat allotment including all India seat and state seats.
