The B.Ed or the Bachelor of Teaching is a 2 year professional teacher training course which is exclusive for those who wish to be geography teachers for the secondary and higher secondary classes in India. The course was laid down with the backdrop of the the 1960s Kothari Commission’s recommendation which emphasized professionally trained teachers in India. 

The purpose of the BEd Geography program is to equip trainees with the theoretical component and techniques required in teaching Geography thoroughly. To start with, the program largely consists of classes on the theory of education, educational processes, development of educational programs, testing and evaluation methods, as well as the Geography content acquisition enhancement and teaching practice itself. Students construct guidelines for a geography program and test innovative teaching approaches.

Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] (Geography) Eligibility

1. Should be a bachelor's degree in Geography or a related discipline with at least 50% of marks from a university that is recognized. 

2. Qualify in the scratch test performed at the state or national level ie. CTET, TET or other in accordance to university norms.  

3. For overall grades, minimum score requirement, in most univer­sities, falls in-between 50-60%.

4. Some colleges and institutions have their own criteria like passing the entrance test, interview and so on as the students must clear these criteria.

5. Reservations and relaxations in eligibility is also liable to be respective to the government rules for reserved categories.

Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] (Geography) Entrance Exams

DU B.Ed. Geography Entrance: The ability to apply and analyze geographic concepts, map reading skills and geography as a subject matter are all assessed by the test.

BHU B.Ed. Geography Entrance: Assesses grasps of physical and human geography, geographical techniques, and educational theory.

JNU B.Ed. (Geography) Entrance: It deals with physical geography, regional geography, map reading and vast variety of educational theories applicable to the teaching of geography.

IGNOU B.Ed. Entrance: It embraces topics that deal with the physical setting, environmental analysis, and the teaching methods that can be applied to geography instruction.
