The B.Arch is a five-year undergraduate degree programme that teach students detailing of buildings starting from the design to the construction. The course was started in India in the 1930s during colonial rule of the British and although the academic institution has a history of being institutionalized for some thousand years, it finds its reference in the Indus Valley civilization.
The modern B.Arch syllabus combines the study of architectural theory in the first year with the core topics which are building construction, structure, climatology, building services, and urban design to upskill the candidates in architecture. Students learn humanities subjects, go for field visits to construction sites to learn it practically and get training done in architectural firm. The last 2 years involves specialist through elective projects and the thesis that you work under the supervision of faculty members or advisers.
