Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University Ph.D Selection Criteria

1. To get eligible for the post, Candidate must have a Master's degree in the concerned subject with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade from any recognized university.

2. Those candidates into whom UGC NET/SLET/SET and teacher fellowship holders have entered would be exempted from the entrance test. Others are required to participate in an exam which is performed by a university.

3. According to the level of their entrance evaluation, applicants are invited for the interview.

4. The interview committee measures candidates' abilities in research and their level of competence in the subject to give an admission decision.

5. Seats in the class are allotted on the overall basis of students academic results and the entrance test and interview. This is done under the available seats in need.

6. Reserved candidates get relaxation of 5% in marks as per government rules which are in force.

7. Candidates who have been qualified for JRF under different schemes of UGC/CSIR are allowed to directly enrol into the PhD programme without appearing for entrance test.
