Entrance Exam Score: Most IIITs, including IIIT Sonipat, admit students based on their performance in national-level entrance exams. The most common entrance exams for B.Tech admissions include:
Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria set by the institute and the exam conducting authority. This typically includes passing the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination with a minimum percentage and specific subject requirements.
Counseling and Seat Allotment: After the entrance exam results are announced, candidates are usually required to participate in a centralized counseling process, such as JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) for JEE Main. During counseling, candidates can select their preferred IIITs and courses based on their ranks and availability of seats.
Merit List: IIITs prepare merit lists based on the entrance exam scores and other criteria (if applicable) to determine the admission ranks of candidates. Admission offers are made to candidates according to their ranks.
Reservation and Quota: IIITs often have reserved seats for various categories, including SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and physically handicapped candidates. Candidates belonging to these categories may have specific relaxations and seat allotment processes.
Branch and Campus Preferences: During the counseling process, candidates can choose their preferred B.Tech branches and the IIIT campus they want to join, based on their rank and availability of seats.
Documents Verification: Candidates must provide the necessary documents, such as 10+2 mark sheets, JEE Main scorecards, category certificates (if applicable), and other relevant documents, for verification during the admission process.
Payment of Fees: After seat allotment, candidates are required to pay the admission fees within the specified deadline to secure their admission.
