Berhampur University is a public state university that was set up in 1967 and is in the city of Berhampur in Odisha. It is endorsed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has been accredited with grade ‘A’ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). According to NIRF 2023 University Ranking, Berhampur University falls under the category of 101-150 in general ranking. 

The university provides a range of academic programs including undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies in the faculties of arts, commerce, education, law, management and science. Some of the main courses include BA, BCom, BEd, LLB, MBA, MCA, MSc, and PhD courses. Some of the key exam dates and admissions process for the year 2024 include the OJEE that will be conducted in May 2024 for the admission into Technical/Professional courses and the Common PG Entrance Test which will be conducted in June 2024 for the admission into Post Graduate Courses. The admission process entails online registration, writing important examinations, meeting the required cutoffs, attending counseling and finally being assigned to a particular institution.

As per the placement record, over 75 top recruiters including Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Accenture have visited the campus and around 85% of students get placed every year with the highest salary package being Rs 18 lakhs per annum for computer applications. Other programs also available in the college are Management, Pharmacy and Chemical Science; the placement rate for these courses is 60-70% and the average annual salary is Rs. 3 to 6 lakhs. Areas of interest for recruitment of graduates include IT, Pharma & Healthcare, Banking, Sales/Marketing, HR, Finance and Operations, Education and Research. The university has a very effective placement and internships department, which provides students with career guidance, interview skills, and other training.
