The IPU CET (Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test) is an entrance exam conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University for admission into various undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by its affiliated colleges in Delhi. It is a computer-based entrance test held 3 times a year – in May, June, and July. IPU CET is conducted for various subjects like engineering, law, management, mass communication, dental, and pharmacy. The exam pattern consists of multiple-choice questions testing logical reasoning, English proficiency, and knowledge of the subject area.
Based on marks scored in IPU CET, separate merit lists are prepared for different courses and participating colleges. The results of IPU CET are generally declared within a week of the exam. For admissions in 2024, the tentative exam dates will be announced by the University soon but it is most likely that the exams will follow a similar schedule and be held in May 15-30, June 10-29 and July 10-27 for the academic batch of 2024-29 with the results expected soon after each test phase.

Online Registration: Candidates who have qualified for IPU CET and meet the cutoff criteria must first register online for the counseling process on the official GGSIPU website. During registration, they will need to pay the counseling participation fee.
Choice Filling and Locking: After registration, candidates can fill in their preferred choices of programs and colleges based on their ranks. It's essential to carefully choose and prioritize options. Once choices are finalized, candidates should lock them to confirm their selections.
Document Verification: Candidates are required to report to designated document verification centers in person. They should bring all necessary original documents for verification, along with photocopies.
Seat Allotment: Based on candidates' ranks, preferences, and the availability of seats, GGSIPU conducts multiple rounds of seat allotment. Allotment results are published on the official website.
Acceptance of Allotment: Candidates who are allotted seats must choose to accept or "freeze" the allotment. This confirms their seat and requires payment of the seat acceptance fee.
Withdrawal and Upgradation: Candidates who no longer wish to participate in the counseling process can withdraw. Those who want to upgrade their allotted seats can participate in subsequent rounds if available.
Payment of Balance Fee: After seat acceptance, candidates should pay the balance course fee online. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of the allotment.
Reporting to Allotted College: Once the seat is accepted and fees are paid, candidates must report to the allotted college within the specified timeframe for document verification and enrollment.
Spot Round (if applicable): In some cases, a spot round may be conducted for vacant seats. Candidates eligible for this round can participate and choose from available options.
Admission Confirmation: After successfully completing all the above steps, candidates' admission to their allotted program and college is confirmed.
