The BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) is a specialized aptitude test used at many universities in United Kingdom, Singapore, Spain, Thailand and Netherlands for the purpose of selecting Medicine, Biomedical Sciences and Health Sciences undergraduate degree students; it is based on the ability of critical thinking. The BMAT is intended to examine in a candidate the skills of solution, the level of thought, forming understanding of basic principles of Science and Math, and the ability to write an essay with correct language and correct grammar under pressure.
The BMAT consists of two sections: a multiple choice section, which is taken under a time limit of 60 minutes, to test both cognitive skills and scientific knowledge, and a short essay writing section, where the candidates use 30 minutes to compose an argumentative essay focused on a given theme. Particularly, universities use the BMAT along with the subject matter has to help them understand the candidate's general expertise and suitability for the highly demanding courses in the fields of healthcare.
This section tests your problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and data analysis skills. Questions in this section may be based on a variety of topics, including mathematics, science, and logic.
Section 2: Scientific Knowledge and Applications
This section tests your knowledge of biology, chemistry, and physics. Questions in this section may be based on either conceptual or practical science.
Section 3: Writing
This section tests your writing skills. You will be required to write two essays in this section. The first essay will be based on a scientific topic, and the second essay will be based on a non-scientific topic.
