The PG Diploma in Human Rights is a one year diploma program which aims to provide students with an advanced grasp on the legal principles, issues and practices concerning human rights from the Indian perspective as well as global. The curriculum consists of the topics namely human rights principles and theories, international human rights laws, human rights in the Indian Constitution, human rights of the already excluded groups, women's rights, rights of the indigenous people, refugee rights, and making justice for all accessible.

The students explore UN systems and institutions including those of protection of human rights through classroom lectures, case studies, assignments and field visits. They learn about global human rights, the Indian situation of the development of human rights and the atrocities against marginalized sections of the society. They further learn about national and state human rights institutions. Some colleges give students the opportunity to also do dissertation work in addition to the course. 

Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights Admission Process

1. Please check the eligibility for the course which is generally having a bachelor's degree in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate of marks on the website. Please make sure to meet the requirements we indicated before submitting your application.

2. Make a list of the different colleges/universities that conduct PG Diploma in Human Rights. Short-list those institutes you would be willing to apply to. There are a variety of options which are NLSIU Bangalore, Jamia Millia Islamia, etc. 

3. Visit the official website of the next institute you will be applying in and find the admission notification section. Pay attention to the enrollment process, key dates, what to attach and additional information through. 

4. For online users, go to the application form on the website. If you are offline, you can download the form as well. Please send scanned copies of the documents you may need like degree certificates, mark sheets, ID proof, etc., as per the requirement. Note that the application fees will have to be paid online.

5. Please kindly send over the filled in application form and specific documents by the due date. You can download and save the filled-in paperwork.

6. Wait for institute to declare a list of shortlisted candidates and, if your name appear, finish further steps of admission process as document verification, fees payment within a given time frame.

PG Diploma in Human Rights Eligibility

1. Educational Qualification: You must possess a bachelor’s degree of any specialization from a reputable university with the cumulative aggregate of not less than 50%. Be it in the general category or in the reserved category, candidates belonging to all categories are eligible to apply.

2. Entrance Test: College is one of the places that can find students who are exceptional in mathematics to join this special course; the kind of students who may be required to do a test to determine their performance. University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET): Exam covering topics such as Human Rights among many others testing candidates' understanding.

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT): Legal aptitude exam that examines human rights law is given for administration in different law programs.
