This 1-year Diploma in Dental Mechanics comes in the dental field, which is a fascinating area and offers a lot of opportunities in the market. It teaches everything from designing, fabrication to repairing and maintaining dental appliances like dentures, crowns, bridges and orthodontic appliances all while putting the matter in the hand of dental surgeons.

The admission criteria is plus two science stream passed candidates. The three compulsory subjects are Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Other institutes besides this also take candidates who have passed their ITI in diploma. This course involves topics such as dental materials, computers fundamentals, principle of design, manufacture of complete dentures, crowns, bridges and orthodontic appliances, dental laboratory setup and instruments.

Diploma in Dental Mechanics Admission Process

1. There is the requisite qualification of 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or its equivalent.

2. Where entrance exam is conducted by the state or national level authority after that students’ counselling session will be on the agenda.

Diploma in Dental Mechanics Eligibility

1. 10+2 pass or equivalent with a certificate from a recognized board. To enrol in the medicine course, students who have at least passed the 12th grade and have opted for Physics, Chemistry and Biology as their subjects are also eligible.

2. A minimum of 50% in the aggregate with 40% score of for the general category students and the SC/ST students. 

3. One of the key requirements is a good vision and a steady hand as students will be operating on the fine dental instruments in the laboratories.

4. Anyone who is subscribed to the disease that spreads in touch/exposure is excluded from participating.

5. Students should have an ability to conduct technical/mechanical work and at least possess the knowledge of computer to make it more effective. 

6. Hard work, good communications and being able to follow instructions are the favourable qualities that employers are looking for.

7. Admission as a diploma student may involve taking an entrance test that is designed by the vocational college offering the qualification. The candidates who will be chosen for the job should be able to pass a written test and/or successfully give an interview.
