The PU CET (Pre University Common Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for admission into various undergraduate professional courses in Karnataka. The test is taken by students who have passed their Class 12 board exams or qualifying exams and seek admission into engineering, technology, agriculture, veterinary, pharmacy, naturopathy & yogic science courses offered by various colleges affiliated to these streams across Karnataka.
The PU CET comprises subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology. It is a competitive exam consisting of objective type multiple choice questions. The results of CET 2023 are expected to be declared in May or June 2023. Students who clear the cutoff will be eligible to participate in the counselling process for seat allotment in their desired colleges and courses. As per trends, the exam dates for PU CET 2024 are likely to be announced by KEA in February 2024 while the exam will probably be conducted during the months of April-May 2024 for the academic session 2024-25.
The number of applicants for a particular course will have a direct impact on the cut off. The more the number of applicants, the higher the cut off will be.
Difficulty level of the exam
The difficulty level of the exam will also affect the cut off. If the exam is difficult, the cut off will be higher.
Reservation criteria
The reservation criteria will also affect the cut off. The seats reserved for the reserved categories will be filled first, and the remaining seats will be filled by the general category candidates.
Previous year's cut off
The previous year's cut off will also be a factor in determining the cut off for the current year. The cut off is usually expected to be higher than the previous year's cut off.
